A dehydrogenation furnace is a type of equipment used to remove hydrogen from metal parts (typically after electroplating). During the electroplating process, hydrogen atoms may be absorbed by the surface of the part. If this hydrogen is not released promptly, the metal is susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement, resulting in brittleness, cracking, or failure. The function of a dehydrogenation furnace is to diffuse and release the hydrogen within the metal through heating, thereby improving the reliability and service life of the part.

How It Works

1. After electroplating or other hydrogen-containing processes, the workpiece enters the dehydrogenation furnace.

 

2. The furnace heats up to a certain temperature (generally 150–320°C, depending on the metal type and process).

 

3. Hydrogen atoms diffuse and escape from the metal surface at high temperatures.

 

4. By controlling the temperature and holding time, the workpiece is fully dehydrogenated without affecting the material.
