Continuous Type Heating Furnace For Steel
Details
A continuous steel heating furnace is an industrial heating device that operates under a stable thermal regime. Steel materials such as billets, plates, or sections enter the furnace continuously and uninterruptedly, moving in a fixed direction within a controlled combustion atmosphere and zoned temperature field. They sequentially undergo preheating, heating, and soaking processes, and are continuously discharged at a specified exit temperature and temperature uniformity to meet the requirements of hot rolling, forging, or other hot working processes regarding the steel's temperature, microstructure, and production rate.

Description

Key Characteristics

Operation Mode

● Continuous charging and discharging with stable production rhythm

● Steady thermal regime, with furnace temperature fields maintained quasi-constant over time

● High productivity, suitable for integration with continuous rolling or forging lines

Furnace Structure and Material Transport

● Unidirectional material flow along the furnace length

● Mechanical conveying systems, such as walking beam, pusher, or roller hearth mechanisms

● Longitudinal zoning, dividing the furnace into functional thermal sections

Thermal and Control Features

● Zoned temperature control, typically including preheating, heating, and soaking zones

● Controlled combustion, using gaseous or liquid fuels with precise air-fuel ratio regulation

● Furnace atmosphere control, minimizing oxidation, scale formation, and heat loss

Heating Quality

● High temperature uniformity across the steel cross-section

● Programmable heating curves, adaptable to different steel grades and dimensions

● Consistent and repeatable heating results, essential for metallurgical quality control

Process Flow

Charging

● Steel products are charged into the furnace at a controlled rate through the charging end, with sealing systems to maintain furnace pressure and prevent air ingress.

Preheating Zone

● The steel is gradually heated by high-temperature exhaust gases.

● Purpose: reduce thermal gradients and utilize waste heat

● Typical temperature range: approximately 300–800 °C, depending on steel grade

Heating Zone

● Primary heat input is supplied through burners to rapidly raise the steel temperature.

● Furnace temperatures commonly reach 1000–1200 °C

● Heating rate and surface oxidation are carefully controlled

Soaking Zone

● The steel is held near the target temperature to equalize internal and surface temperatures.

● Ensures thermal homogeneity

● Critical for downstream deformation processes

Discharging

● The steel exits the furnace at a specified temperature (typically 1100–1250 °C) and is directly transferred to rolling mills, forging presses, or other hot-working equipment.
