A Car Bottom Hearth Furnace for Forgings is a batch-type industrial furnace in which the furnace hearth is mounted on a movable car. Forging workpieces are loaded onto the car outside the furnace, after which the car is driven into the furnace chamber for heating, soaking, or heat-treatment under controlled temperature and atmosphere conditions. After completion of the thermal cycle, the car is withdrawn for unloading and transfer to subsequent forging or heat-treatment operations.

Working Process Flow

 

Loading

● Forgings, ingots, or large steel components are placed on the car bottom using cranes or manipulators.

● Loading is performed outside the furnace, improving safety and reducing furnace downtime.

 

Furnace Entry

● The car moves along rails into the furnace chamber.

● Furnace doors close to ensure thermal sealing and pressure stability.

 

Heating Stage

● Burners or electric heating elements raise the furnace temperature according to a predefined heating curve.

● Controlled heating rates prevent thermal stress and cracking in large forgings.

 

Soaking / Holding

● The forgings are held at target temperature to achieve thermal uniformity throughout the cross-section.

● This stage is critical for large or thick-section components.

 

Furnace Exit

● After completion of the thermal cycle, the car is withdrawn from the furnace.

● Furnace doors open only briefly, minimizing heat loss.

 

Unloading / Transfer

● Heated forgings are removed for forging deformation, normalizing, annealing, or quenching preparation.
